[quote=kyle19125;38787971]Check out Pass-A-Grille Beach which is at the southern tip of St Petersburg Beach. It's a quiet "worlds away" kind of place that has a beautiful beach, some great restaurants and even a little main street with shops (Historic 8th Avenue). It's a bit of a secret place that thankfully hasn't been "discovered".

Pass-a-Grille Beach, Florida The Official Visitor's Site | Winner of TripAdvisor's 2013 Travelers Choice Award. Get off the grid in relaxing and historic Pass-a-Grille Beach, Florida.

Pass A Grille beach is the one I would say is the one for you.

Hey all one more question for those of you who have been to St Petes. I am looking at the Howard Johnson and grand plaza. That are a couple miles north of pass a beach and south of Madeira and treasure island. Is the environment and different on the north or south side of the island? Are there shuttles that go up and down the strip? What would you all suggest I am trying to keep it under $200 a night.

There is no "St. Petes."

There is the City of St. Petersburg (aka downtown St. Pete, aka DTSP) and there is St. Pete Beach.

Here's info on the Trolley http://www.psta.net/Bus%20Schedules/...T%20060312.pdf

He's talking about the area between St Pete beach and Madeira beach. We just had lunch at the restaurant out in front of the HJ your referring to. I know there is a bus line that runs up and down the Gulf Blvd. but I haven't seen a trolly that you can jump on and off of.
