This has been discussed a million times lol. Honestly, I think you will get more biased and false information asking this question here. They are only an hour apart, so visit for yourself and decide.

My opinion:

I prefer Orlando a lot more. I'm 27 years old. I've lived in numerous cities in Alaska, Washington, California, Florida and Australia. I currently live in San Francisco, I used to live in Orlando and still have the house there. I could move literally anywhere in the US and I'm choosing Orlando, so that should say a lot. I would rather work as a bartender in Orlando because you not only get the local population, but also a huge tourist population too.

I am not in my twenties, rather in my fifties but have lived in and been a bartender/waiter in cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, here in Orlando, Raleigh/Durham and Washington DC. Bear in mind when looking at Orlando you're looking at a fairly small city (around 250K) that will feel kind of small after awhile because when you strip away the theme parks and suburban sprawl there's not much left in terms of a "city". Also many of the tourists are international and tip poorly or not at all. Unlike the Tampa Bay area which has two distinct cities, each with populations a good bit larger or equal to Orlando's (Tampa population 340K and St Petersburg population 250K). Just bear all of that in mind and do visit both areas as Orlando isn't as big/exciting as the theme parks make it out to be.

As mentioned previously, this has been debated many times here on CD. My answer remains the same, ORLANDO hands down!

St. Petersburg is nice up and coming city to look into as well but Orlando has more of a good scene going on so I would check that out.
