The 1st video gives a great explanation of the area. The 2nd video is a virtual tour from a real boat captain.

And I thought it was Hawaii...

Just picking on you. I think you meant continental US.

Awesome fishing. I have read accounts of people taking kayaks and camping there. Sounds like the trip of a lifetime.

You are correct on all counts.......DT is what it says "Dry" as in no water, no power, no nothing. You can camp there if you take the ferry but most folks don't last too long as it is not a friendly environment!

Technically, Ballast Key holds the honor of being the southern most point in the continental United States.

To be clear, people take their kayaks on the ferry along with tents, coolers, etc.

You are 100% correct but that still makes it a barren place with no power, no water etc.

The ferry limits you to certain amounts of supplies also so it will prevent long term visits.

Sorry to burst your bubble but... "Ballast Key is an island in the Florida Keys in Monroe County, Florida, United States. It is the southernmost point of land in the contiguous United States."

While Hawaii is the southernmost state, the territory of American Samoa is even further south than that.

Dry Tortugas National Park is a national park in the United States about 68 statute miles west of Key West in the Gulf of Mexico. Wikipedia
Address: Key West, FL

It's still part of key west, anyway, Key West is the farthest point south you can drive to.
