What? Haven't you seen the Q-tips in the leather jackets and gloves walking into Olive Garden in May? It's an epidemic of catastrophic proportions.

I will probably leave Miami because it is too hectic and can't imagine myself at 70 driving around with all the crazy drivers here. That being said I doubt that I would leave Florida altogether because I have family here and the furthest I would be from Miami would be middle of Florida so we can visit the grandkids.

My husband has family in North Carolina and we do visit and enjoy spending time there but I would really miss my own culture too much and the diversity of lots of other cultures in Miami to be too far away.

No because America is going down the toilet, if FL stinks theres nowhere else to run to that will be any better. I will be here and I will just be cynical, but I realized at this point in my life moving will not fix it. America no matter what is screwed and the place you move to will not be better. Just try harder to meet people like you is all I can suggest or if you have a dynamite offer somewhere else. I been enough places to know that even if I complain about FL, getting up and leaving the state still isnt the solution.

I left Florida after some 20 odd years. Igrew up here. Went to elementary, middle, and high school. Did 2 years at SPC, took my AA and left the state.

Heres the thing...Florida was a great place to grow up. I had a high school right next to the beach, used to skip all the time. But Florida is an awful place for anyone over 20. Its a great state for those who dont really plan on doing much with their lives. You know, get married, get a 40K a year job, buy a house in the suburbs. Thats all its good for as the economy is solely dependent on crap service jobs and tourism.

I dont regret leaving but I dont regret my time there either. It was fun while I was young but when your a 20 something trying hard to really make something of yourself...its a terrible place.

Does that really surprise you? You too have lived in a nicer place. Once the novelty wears off down there it's a pretty mundane place to reside.

The only true redeeming quality here is the weather, which for now anyway overrides the other quality of life measures for me. I've only been back in the state for a bit over 4 years so my tune may change after a couple of more 6 month summers.

These type of days are rather rare in FL unfortunately...
