I posted a link to yesterday's column by Carl Hiaasen in the Herald that covered much of the same ground and was rebuked for dredging up "old news." Yeah, this is stuff that most of us already know, but the local media have been slow to catch on to the fact that there's a high degree of discontent. Perhaps that is changing.

They surveyed .00006 percent of the population for the poll.
While it does show some discontent, with that small a survey sample you could have a major shift either way every time you did the survey.
Stats may not lie but they can be deceiving.

I used a population of a little over 8 million(2006) and they had polled 1200 people.
The numbers could vary greatly when using such a small sample.

I think a few thousand results can be statistically significant. Can any stats wiz figure out the confidence interval?

A few thousand people out of the millions ? I'm not buying it, that hardly speaks for the population of Florida. I'm sure I could find a few thousand people in my small town of 20,000 that are discontent with something here, bah. Lets survey the millions that ARE happy with Florida. Besides that the article says NEARLY HALF the people surveyed are un happy.. Okay so more than half were happy... "While the majority of Floridians are planning to stay put and still would urge others to come here"
No one is happy everywhere, you always have someone not happy.. property taxes are WORSE up north, so lets poll people up north and see who's discontent up here with their property taxes. I'm going BACK to Florida because when I buy a house the taxes will be cheaper.... $8,500 in taxes on a $170,000 house here, PLUS a view tax on the side... don't think so..
