Default Daytona Beach, Port Orange or Ormand Beach?

Which would be better for us? We have two small children that will be in school in a couple of years. We would like to live w/in 30 minutes from the ocean in a good neighborhood. Any recommendations? We'd like good schools, safer neighborhood and restaurants/shopping around. Thank you.

Ormand or Port Orange would be ok. I'd stay away from Daytona with children. Actually, I'd choose Ormand over Port Orange for kids - more family oriented neighborhoods up there. I like the area around Tomoka State Park.

Which area has a wider selection of shopping and restaurants? Port Orange or Ormond Beach?

I don't know which has more restaurants/shopping. I'm hoping to find out.

Question: Is anyone familiar with the new aparments called Bermuda Estates? I've been looking at those and thinking about renting there. Any thoughts? What's around/near them?

Thanks.

I am also relocating to florida. I searched in Jacksonville and decided that some of the areas in Jacksonville are for lack of a better word... unbelievable. So now I am looking into Daytona. I have found some nice homes in Port Orange through realtor.com. Does anyone know anyhting about this area? And why not Daytona Beach, what's going on over there? I am from NYC and this move is the move of my dreams. I just don't want to make the wrong mistakes when it comes to neighborhoods. Unfortunately real estate agents can not talk about neighborhoods their thought on that has to stay neutral. If anyone knows anything let me know. And does anyone one know of any other web sites that I can look through? Thanks

Port Orange is only 2 - 5 minutes from the beach depending on your location in the city. The schools are good and the crime is pretty low. There are new developments and changes coming soon like the Port Orange Riverwalk that will provide another destination for residents.
