Help Finding Good Elementary/middle Schools And Nice Neighborghood
My husband and I are moving to Miami. We are mainly concerned about schools and a good neighborhood. My husband will be working in Coral Gables. He could drive for 50 minutes or so to get to work everyday in order for the family to be in a safe, nice, area. Demographics are important. We are lost. Could anybody help?

How much are you planning to spend on housing? Some of the best schools and best neighborhoods are in and next door to Coral Gables, but they're pricey.

This is the at least the third thread in the the last ten days or so concerning the search for good (public) schools in southeastern Florida, and few good, concrete answers, if any, have been forthcoming.
Exaggerating, it appears that "good schools" and "Miami area" is an oxymoron.
More realistically, you may have a 10% chance of finding a decent school in the Miami area, maybe better in Coral Gables if you can afford to live there.
By far, your best bet is a private school or home schooling.

THank you so much for your answer. Do you have any idea about how much a private school would cost? We are so lost.

Well the deal is if you can afford the Pinecrest/Palmetto area then you'll be able to send your kids to some pretty good schools. Coral Gables schools are good, Coral Gables Senior High has an IB program for the brainy kids. Aventura/Highland Oaks area has some good A-list schools as well, but it's further away from downtown Coral Gables--roughly 1 hour drive in rush hour.
Single family homes in these school districts tend to run $550K minimum, and that's for the small fixer-uppers.

Well, the best place I've heard about is Weston. I am going to look into it. Good luck.
