There are some fairly safe neighborhoods beachside in Miami. It would be far better for young people so far as work and entertainment go.

Btw, Miami has many beaches...South Beach, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Crandon, Haulover, Gold Beach, Sunny isles just to name a few - and thats not even counting Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood beaches to the north, so you have tremendous diversity of beaches in and around Miami.
The shooting a few days ago... while it did happen in the panhandle, they were all (suspect and the ppl shot) from Alabama. Just an FYI.

Miami and South Florida on the other hand, is not a safe area by any stretch of the imagination and it's about as far away from cheap as you'll find in the state. In regards to FBI statistics on murder, other violent crimes, and property crimes, Miami Beach tops the list and well over half of the places are in the MD/Broward/PBC area. See for yourself.

Having spent a considerable amount of time in both north and south Florida, I don't doubt these statistics for a second. This is not to say that you can't find a safe area to live down here, but generally it's going to cost you a significant amount of money.

I agree completely.

Not when you can compare "fairly safe" to "safe." I'll take the 'safe' vs 'fairly safe but with more beaches' anyday.

None of the places mentioned are particularly safe. We'd need more choices for that. The safest, Siesta, is only average. The safest isn't far from me. But you'd need to be a CEO to afford it, and anyone under 60 would be bored to tears.

Out of those choices siesta key, but its not my overall favorite. There are many other very nice beaches with less crowds that id prefer and in very nice low crime areas.

Please let me know of places with low crime rate and not bad storms I hear in siesta key the hurricanes are just like bad thunderstorms and is this true? Any info would be great thank u (:
I'd suggest somewhere in Pinellas county. Siesta Key is nice and all, but it is kind of small so I'm not sure how great the job market is. That said, it was surprisingly busy there the last time I visited.
