I got the lanes from when Don Carter's Kendall closed, and removed them myself. The only bowling alley in the Keys is the old coral bowl which is now 1/2 sized and called the fish bowl. It seems like most of the bowling alleys in south Florida have been replaced with (what else) shopping centers. Getting a CHEAP place is most important for me, more than any "location". I am amazed how boring the Miami area is, there's NOTHING to do after 10 anywhere except the beach or part of downtown, both inconvenient and overrated. Driving up to Kendall to get together with friends to bowl into the night was fun. I wish I knew what was so great about miami at night? I would rather do donuts on the atv than go out to south beach.

Hellhole? Why in Gods name would you want to live in a place like you describe? Are you the worlds' biggest redneck? I certainly wouldn't want to build a $400,000.00 home and have some Yeahoo put up a trailer on the next lot with junk cars all over. You need to head to Alabama, it's a hole but another term comes to mind.

Mud riding, swamp buggies, etc. You can let your grass grow and never have to worry about being punished. Has this gone away from Florida permanently?
Ocala National Forrest. Anything goes there Rick.
But you like the sea. For suggestions on those locations pm me.

Why are people so against rednecks, trailers and junk cars? It's better than condos, Mc Mansions and sky high property taxes!

I don't see what's so bad about having a nice tidy home anyway~!
Sounds like you want to live amongst the cattle! I do and am still on the river near the coast. People in my area don't have junk cars. I don't see any trailers. I just think its funny how people forget that large homes sit on large property. I sold 20 acres for just under 980k. Oh and buy the way the guy was from N.Y.and the bank has it for sale now. Who do you think sold the land your 0 lot line house sits on? The ranchers and farmers, And yes we don't have payments to the bank anymore or junk cars, trailers, or if a storm hits hard we eat steak and don't have to stock up on food. I have worked two jobs and went to school at night most of my life. So don't cut us down, the few of us left will be the only people to save your ass. Oh and just a note I'm still out fighting fires and treating the sick and injured even though I don't have to any more. Don't take southern hospitality as stupidity.

Same reason why people are against ghettos, vacant lots full of old tires, and urban blight in the cities.

Like I used to tell NAH, if "cheap" is your ONLY criteria in a place to live, this big country of ours (and even this state) is full of options for you. No sense in seeking constant company for your misery when you can just pack up and leave to greener pastures. Especially if you DO live in the keys and bought years ago. Even in a downturn market, you're sure to make a tidy profit if you sell (and I'm sure you won't be complaining about home prices when you cash out!)

Default Brooksville. Def. Brooksville!

Acres of open land for cheap. Friendly to horses and dogs and all that you are looking for. Yet further down the road there's a small town with a sprinkling of restaurants and shops. Google it and do some sleuthing. Let us know whatcha think. Good luck!
