Haven't been able to decide which city to move to. Which city is more affordable and better for jobs? Which city is cleaner and more quiet? What would you describe as the major differences between the 2? I don't care about beaches necessarily, I want to live somewhere at least decent economically, and not full of white trash people.

Both are not bad options but Lakeland might have more direct employment opportunities.

If you're comparing Cape Coral then you should look at North Port. It has easy access to Ft Myers/Cape Coral and Sarasota--and the cities in between. It's also very affordable.

Definitely Lakeland which is easily commutable from the Tampa job market and has a good bit happening in it's own right. Fort Myers-Cape Coral is quieter in general but there are many areas in/around Lakeland that would fulfill that requirement also. In terms of affordability I would say it's wash between the two. Just curious, how did you land on these two options minus employment already in place? They're usually not at the top of most relocation lists here in Florida and definitely lack similarity.

Lakeland has a great location, and is a full city in its own right. I lived there for two years, and it has a lot going for it. Reasonably easy commute to Tampa or Orlando, a MAJOR distribution area for the whole state, a nice restored small downtown and a beautiful new University being built (USF Polytechnic). This area BY FAR would offer the most opportunities. Also, overall a younger demographic and it is not dependent on tourism there.

I have only touched on a few points, I hope this helps.
