I realize an HOA is not for everyone, but I wanted to make sure the OP could have their fruit trees no matter where they ended up.

I think Sarasota would be ideal. There is a notible climate difference between Tampa and Sarasota. While you can grow fruit trees in Tampa, Sarasota has much more of a tropical feel to it. Bradenton isn't a bad option either as I think both Bradenton and Sarasota will just barely meet your 75k population requirement. Living in Bradenton would also give you a reasonable commute to the substantially larger St. Petersburg so I don't imagine there would be any shortage of employment opportunities.

PLEASE stay in Kanada because Florida is all full of you Kanadians coming down here adding to the gridlock and basically stifling population. Besides Kanada is a great place to live! Stay there because Florida has Snakes, Alligators, huge flying Roaches, gridlocked traffic, very few people speak english south of West Palm Beach.

I read your please don't move to Florida unless you make 6 figures, respect the locals, kids, living the dream etc etc. Fortunately for you - I meet all your requirements (will have a job lined up b/f I move duh!) - so how about some real input?

BTW your posts are absolutely hilarious!! Makes my day each time I visit this forum. Now I definitely want to move from Kanada Kountry to Florida if I get to meet colorful people like yourself!

I agree. I grew up in Tampa and now live in Sarasota/Bradenton area. There is a huge climate difference as to what will grow down here as opposed to just north over the bridge. If you want to grow tropical fruits, yes some will grow in Tampa/St. Pete but in winter it usually gets colder there, and it doesn't take much for some of the more sensitive trees/plants. If you visit, you will see how much more tropical it looks down here. We also have hospitals here, so no problems there.

If you purchase in a flood zone, whether here or Tx or NC, you will pay the high insurance, no escaping that. We live in one and insurance is sky high. Insurance in general is high here, keep that in mind. Also, hurricane risk is everywhere in Florida an in the coastal areas of the other states you mentioned.

Anyway, come visit and see what you think.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Sunshine Skyway right? Was looking at the Sarasota/Bradenton area - it's beautiful! Houses are reasonably priced and so is the cost of living. Guess I'll focus my week of around that area. Thanks guys!!!

Don't waste your time dealing or answering to his post.

He talks a big game and talks a lot of BS, but the moment you put him in his place he will report you to the Mods and threatens you that he reported you and hopes you get banned.

That guy is a waste of time, bandwidth, and kilobytes in this forum. It is quite obvious many people here have issues with his beyond ridiculous posts. But then again...people that hide behind a screen and keyboard think they are Hercules.

I'm from NY, Florida is my 2nd home and I wish I knew exactly where I could run into this individual.

Anyway...moral to the story is, don't waste your time with this guy. He will report you to the mods and PM you telling you that he flagged you and reported you which then he ends...hope you get banned.

If you want to relocate to Florida I wish you the best of luck and hope you find a place you'll be happy in. As soon as I get my chance or the time is right I will be calling Florida my PERMANENT home!

Florida here I come!!!!

I don't know who misinformed you about the west coast being less prone to hurricanes but that isn't true.

Are you a Canadian citizen? Are you legally allowed to work in the US or is your job a one shot deal?
