Looks like soon there's going to be overnight round-trip service to the big island for around $300-$350, round-trip.

Would you go?

For the first time in five decades, the U.S. is allowing ferry service between Florida and Cuba.

At least four companies said they were notified Tuesday of approvals by the U.S. Treasury and Commerce departments, the first since Washington imposed a trade embargo on Cuba.

Sounds like they're starting to ease the embargo but not fully:

"Americans still are not allowed to travel to Cuba for general tourism under the terms of the U.S. embargo, which remains in place."

200 pounds of luggage allowance is going to make them very attractive to people who visit family in Cuba and do the usual 'everything but the fully assembled motor scooter' baggage to supply their cousins running small businesses down there.

It's a good business plan that understands customer needs.

True, you still need a permit.

Whether by plane or ferry, American travelers to Cuba still have to come under one of 12 categories permitted in the landmark easing of US sanctions announced by the White House in December -- including family visits, official government business, humanitarian projects and sports gatherings.
and then there was this last week...

New Proposed Bill to Stop Travel to Cuba

For those of you excited by the prospect of being able to visit Cuba, here comes a party pooper: Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart introduced a bill this week “that would block new flights and cruise ship travel to Cuba.” The bill is attached to a transportations spending bill that the House of Representatives will review in May. Diaz-Balart, a Cuban-American said “Congress cannot look away as the president implements policies that channel dollars to an anti-American dictatorship.”
Why is he doing this when most people want to see the travel ban lifted?

Again ? Definitely.
First went there 20 years ago and found a beautiful country inhabited by intelligent,hard-working and friendly people.
Relaxing the embargo and Ombamacare will be the defining memories of this presidency.
