Good question. Perhaps some say "ah, I can handle the heat and humidity". Then they move here and find out they really cant handle it and and begin to become unhappy. Then they need to obtain other mis information and rely on it because it sounds right to them. Eventually they are in a position to move further north yet some of those people continue to post their negative thoughts here as if it is a way to justify their move away from what they thought was a great place to live.

Some people continue to lead the cheer and rationalize their existence in Florida as they don't have any money and couldn't leave if they wanted to because moving cost $$$. The reality is they sit in their A/C homes and do nothing because they have no money ...

I think there is a reason why some towns in florida have close to a 50% snowbird population. It isn't because we want to maintain 2 properties. We want to escape the summer heat and humidity. It's in the 70's now up in NJ with humidity at 26%. It looks like fla. is going to have a run of 95's with high humidity and it's only May.

We are snowbirds and spend 4 months in the winter in the Keys...come April 1st we fly the coop. For us, the heat and humidity is oppressive starting April 1st. It's not that we really mind the snow, just that we prefer to be outside and enjoy outdoor activities. Our friends who live in the Keys year round say they go from one AC or another AC and do not spend a lot of time outside in the hot months. As we drove north this year we visited friends in SC, and it was already getting hot there too, at least for us.

Growing up in St Pete i have lots of friends and family in Florida who i communicate with on a regular basis since i moved up north. till now they never speak of Floridas heat in our correspondence up until the past month or so when most of them are now starting to mention how hot it is this year, i'm thinking something has changed down there for them to all of a sudden start mentioning the heat.
Is it hotter than usual?

I moved here March 1st. It has basically been very warm, to hot and humid since I moved here. I live in a 55+ mobile home park, and there is next to no one here now. A rather isolated empty feeling living here now. They all seemed to leave in early April. I knew it would be hot and humid here, but I didn't think it would be this bad so early. Like I said it was even hot here at times in March, and I moved here from Tucson. It's not like I had not had some experience with extreme heat. I would imagine its getting hotter down here, and probably earlier with each passing year.

Yes, this May has been and is hotter than usual.

I am in DC now on travel, and the forecast for the next 7 days in DC is 90 and a bit humid; the average high this time of year is 78.

Looks like the entire East Coast, including the mid-Atlantic is hot this May.

I love the mountains in the summer. It's always noticeably cooler and less humid once I get over Black Mountain coming from Raleigh. I've seen as much as 10-12 degrees on the car thermometer.
