My boyfriend and I are looking to move out of little ol' Delaware by the end of this year. My boyfriend is getting out of the Air Force and we are offered one FREE move to anywhere in the country. Cali is in the running because his family lives out there, but the cost of living is RIDICULOUS. Florida happens to be another option because it's closer to my family.

Where are the best places to live in Florida without burning a crazy hole in our wallets? We are looking to rent an apartment - 1 bed 1 bath would suit us just fine for now.

We are a young couple and prefer to be near shops, restaurants, beaches, night life... etc.

Opinions? Thoughts? HELP!

FL isn't cheap but imo it's definitely more affordable than CA. Although many ppl like the west coast, am partial to the east coast - would suggest reading here on it and visit and see what suits you. We're seniors and like things that are conveneint too, we havent been here that long but we do like it a lot, lots of activities going on, although the hot weather takes some getting used to but it's a trade-off w/ the cold weather - everyone's different - check it out for yourself.

Check out the Tampa Bay area which is near the beaches, has plenty to do, a lot of younger people and is fairly affordable in most areas. Tampa itself is a good option in areas like Carrollwood or Tampa Palms/New Tampa near the University of South Florida.

Unless you have a very good income avoid So Ca. Born and raised there and it ain't what it used to be. FL is likely to be my next stop in life.

Looks like it. Perhaps they wanted non-Tampa suggestions.

I don't see any mention of jobs or a nice amount of money saved up. Unless you have one of those or both, what's the game plan?

Just see concerns about beaches and nightlife. Nice that military offers one free move, but they're not paying for you to live at the new location.

Whether you decide on FL or someplace else, make your free move a wise move.

Jobs first, location later.
