do you feel people with tattoos are substandard people? just curious, because it comes across that way from previous posters.

I don't. I have a few (although not visible with regular clothing on.)
I believe she was just enforcing the point I was making that Florida women don't have more tattoos than in other states.

Floridians in general have more tattoos than anywhere I've ever seen. I don't know how anyone could say otherwise.

I don't think having a tattoo necessarily makes someone "substandard" or a bad person. There is a difference between a hipster, average person or military person getting a tattoo vs. the low-life pos I saw so much of in Florida that are covered in them.

I've dated a few women who have tattoos that are not visible, so I'm not totally against them.

I agree with this top ten list, but have to add that having the time and money to enjoy everything Florida has to offer helps a great deal. Perhaps this is why so many retirees flock here. If you know your days are numbered, why not spend the time you have left in the warmth and sunshine?

I'm a gardener, so here I can putter around in my garden every day of the year because the weather accommodates that and I'm retired. I also enjoy playing kickball and pickleball year round, but while I was working and raising my family I had no time or energy for such endeavors. Yes, it does get hot, but I avoid the hottest part of each day and do my more strenuous activities in the morning and evening, so it works for me. Florida can be great, but only if you have the time and money to take advantage of its perks.

I am especially looking forward to the gardening when we get down there. It's been a dream of mine to have my own fruit trees.

I enjoy visiting Florida and have even considered moving there myself. I prefer the Orlando area the most. However, well paying white collar corporate jobs are VERY scarce. Therefore, Florida is essentially not an option for me. It has a unique economy that depends largely on retiree consumer spending and tourist spending. That's fine. It is what it is. But it's not a viable option for me. Plus, I like four seasons and LOVE snow.

Less than 20% of Orlando jobs are related to tourism and hospitality.

Orlando has one of the largest research centers in the country, as well as an established engineering job market, to name a few. Not to mention the medical field and its job offerings.
It's not as bad as what some would want you to believe.

Default Jobs

The only jobs in Florida that seem to pay well are the professional fields, medicine and law. Other than that most of the labor force seems to be struggling with low paid minimum wage jobs.
