There are a good # of Asians living here in my area (Sarasota/Manatee). I don't think you would have any trouble at all.

JasonC, determine first where you can get a job, or will you be working from home?

Hello. Thanks so much for replying. I am willing to commute up to 45-60 min (used to it in Windy City, although prefer not to). I saw teaching availability and my wife can probably find a nursing job anywhere:-) I heard Sarasota County is 1 of the best for public education, plus a school choice option exists to send my younger kids out-of-town if desire. My aim is to erect a 2-story mansion with close-enough sea breeze to lessen the humidity, but not too close to brunt of flood/hurricane along coast. I'm glad Asians (or mixed couples) would NOT be looked to as weird or other problems.

I wish I could see land available in city of Sarasota itself, but it seems I'd have to "settle" for North Port in that county...LOTS of lots to build. Plus, ranked safe and affordable. Just was concerned about the redneck factor and overall feel of place

Default I understand

I understand your concern major1968 as I am too considering to move to Tampa and wondered if my kids would be treated a certain way since they are from an interracial marriage. I have done a lot of research and still not sure on where to go. Schools are ok in Tampa but not as good as in the area I'm in now (Shawnee, KS). It is just scary to move to an unknown place.
