Why do you think it's necessary to go on a public message board and announce that?

I wonder the same thing....why not leave out the interracial aspect and just ask for a nice safe middle class area to raise kids in on the gulf? Makes me think that the poster thinks people will make it an issue when it reality HE/SHE is making it the issue.

In some locations it IS an issue. Some places are still caught in a time warp and aren't as progressive as society. Why do you have to take issue with an innocent post?
Major- Don't count on anyplace being "safe" always. You can research the crime rates for various areas you are interested in and go with the one that looks best for you. I have never felt that Tampa was "safe" given the crime- but that's my opinion. I'm sure there are some folks that feel they can leave their doors unlocked at night while they sleep. In one little town near Tampa some folks did that and wound up brutally stabbed to death . The town was shocked. Just do your best on the research aspect. That's all you can do. And don't be nieve about leaving doors ulocked or taking reasonable efforts to remain secure. Bi-racial relationships are a non issue in this area. Good luck!

We are merely pointing out that possibly he/she is the one that makes it an issue, not necessarily always those around them.

Being an interracial family is most definitely worth mentioning! If they wanted to move to my town, I would welcome them but I know many people who would not. I would sadly tell them to not move here. As s01 stated - some places are not progressive and this would be an issue.
I have mentioned previously on this board about friends of ours who are an interracial couple who were not treated well here, and moved to Orlando. It changed their lives for the better.
It is a valid thing to mention when trying to find an area to peacefully raise their family. I know this is regarding Florida, but one of the most liberal and accepting places I have ever seen for interracial couples is Vermont, especially Burlington and some of the larger towns. Nobody cares. They take you for the person you are, not the pigmentation in your skin. Thumbs up to that.
MAJOR1968 - I wish you the best of luck in finding your perfect place.

I would think St. Petersburg or Gulfport would be great areas.
I would say Tampa and Pasco less so, but I could be wrong.
I know some of the other posters are aghast you might assume there is any prejudice in Florida
Why not google Rhonda Storms or google news Mary Ann Hogan and make up your own mind.
