Default Diners, Drive inns and Dives

I have been watching a new TV program on Foodnetwork where this guy travels around going to, you guessed it, diners drive inns and dives.

I thought it might be fun if we could make up our own list of these kinds of restaurants here in Florida.

No frills, just good food.

Keegan's Seafood Grille1519 Gulf Blvd. Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785Tel: (727) 596-2477Website: Keegans Seafood Grill - Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish1350 Pasadena AveSouth Pasadena, FL 33707Tel: (727) 381-7931

These are a couple of the places that were reviewed on the show.

I was watching a show on PBS where they travel around Florida. They went in to this place over in Sarasota and went on about how good the food in general was but also the pies. They are famous for them. You should have seen how high the whipped cream was piled up on those pies. It made it look like it was worth the trip over just for a slice of dessert.

Welcome to Yoder's Amish Restaurant of Sarasota, Florida!

If you want some good pie, check out Flora & Ella's in LaBelle. Their pie makes my tummy one happy camper!

Amish restaurants always make good food. I'll have to road trip up there one day! Thanks!

The Ocean Grill Restaurant - Vero Beach, Florida

I have been watching a show on PBS called Florida roadtrip. This husband and wife take road trips around Florida and on each show, have one restaurant.

This one looks fascinating because it was built so long ago, the original owner used items salvaged from ruined hotels in Palm Beach at around the time of the depression in 1929.

Love that show !!

Also like Paula Deans sons traveling around doing the same type thing.

They went to a bread company and a coconut bar /candy maker in the keys and when we went to the keys we found both places. Yummy !!

Yoders is a famous family mainly based in Amish Country in Holmes County Ohio. The Amish country area in Ohio actually gets more traffic then in Lancaster Pa because of the food, shopping and tours.

Ohh yes, the pies.... melt in your mouth.

Yoders has a huge buffet in Amish Country here with the pies being sold at the retail store in front and they are usually cleaned out by noon.

Stumpknockers on the Withlacoochie river in Marion County.
The Yearling Restaurant, also in Marion County.
Good southern-style cuisine, great pies, very picturesque settings.
