Default Are You Familiar With New Smyrna Beach?

I have two question here:

1) I'm thinking about living "beachside" in New Smyrna Beach. Are there any areas that I should avoid? (I live in Michigan now, so I'm not going to be able to scope out the area before I sign a lease).

2) I love beaches that have a lot of "wet sand" -- as this seems to firm up the ground so that I can ride my bike! Does this type of sand exist in New Smyrna beach? If so, will I find more of this at the north end or the south end of the New Smyrna Beach? (The following photo is the sort of sand that I am talking about. This is a photo of Ponce Inlet).

We moved down here in September and live beachside.

There are no areas that you need to worry about beachside.

Moved here from WI 7 years ago. If you need any help with info, let me know. Yes, this type of sand is here (they drive their cars on the sand) however with all the storms that have come through in the past few years have left us with little or no beach at times. I wouldn't plan a daily routine on riding your bike on the beach, you never know how high the tide will be. Went down there today and the water was right up to the breakers (no beach) and the surf was really high. The beach isn't what it used to be.
