Default Nm to fl

Born in Miami, raised in Hialeah, worked on South Beach for years. Moved to Rio Ranch, NM outside of Albuquerque (spouse worked for INTEL...BOO...HATE the company) 7 years ago.

GOING BACK TO FL (HAVE PARTY HAT ON!!!!) This time instead of South FL ...going to Central, FL. DUNEDIN, FL where we can walk, skate and bike.
If we fall, we will even have a hospital to go to (not like Rio Rancho who still does not have a hospital.....last population count was it 70,000 or 72,000).
Research showed low crime, great hospital, many surrounding hospitals (in medical field), beaches, humidity (yes some people actually do miss humidity).
Our family is looking forward to throwing our individual bottles of saline and humidifiers away. Look forward to the Boxing Club, Pinellas Trail, walking places, community center, newcomer group, visiting/exploring Tarpon Springs, Largo, St. Pete., Clearwater, and BUSCH GARDENS.

I will miss the mountains. Seven years of cold and snow....I am ready for the shorts, sleeveless shirts, flip flops, year-round basketball, not de-icing, not falling on the ice. For months I have been having a fantasy of taking my shoes off and just walking through the grass barefooted, or putting a lawnchair out in the backyard and turning on the sprinklers and getting wet.
If no water restrictions.....taking a sprinkler head off and having one of those great backyard water gushes. That will make seeing cockroaches well worth it (no roaches for 7 years in the S.W.).

Have I ever been to Dunedin. NO. Have I talked to people who live there, have lived there, lived near it......YES....and it sounds wonderful and something for NOW.

Only thing holding me back is the flat market....still waiting for house to sell since everyone low-ball offers. Hopeful to be there by Thanksgiving or Christmas...keeping fingers crossed.

Default I would rather Sweat to Death than Freeze and have Broken Pipes in the house!

I am from the Hudson Valley in NY state, living in both Dutchess & Columbia County for nearly 50 years and it's about time for a change. We are looking at Citrus County or Hernando County on the West Coast. Several things attract us to Florida, but esp the Weather! I am so sick of cramming my whole life into 5 or 6 months and just plain EXISTING for the rest! My body doesn't like the cold, Every muscle hurts and I don't like having to pay an arm and a leg just to heat the house. It is an old 100 year old house and looses heat like wind blowing through swiss cheese. I want a life not just half an existence. The stress of Winter is just getting to be too much! Seasons? Who cares! I hate the seasons. We don't even have a spring anymore and although Autumn is nice to photograph, I have a hard time enjoying it knowing what is to follow. When I see the leaves fall and the world become the most awful shade of gray, I could hibernate and sleep until May. My husband could work year round and I could go to the beach at Christmas or Garden on New Years or whatever! If I need a dose of snow ( Which I highly doubt) I will visit relatives back home! I have done Lots of Research, and continue to do on a daily basis and have visited twice within the past few years. I do know some people who live in the area and continue to seek out contacts. This is what I know to be True, at my age I know what I like and what is Important to me. This is the USA, we can move freely with moderate effort if you really want it badly enough! Change is going to happen with or without your Consent so take life by the reins and steer in the direction of your heart and what is best for you & your family. I am not the least bit afraid of change, as a matter of fact, I embrace it! All that is needed is a positive ATTITUDE and a great sense of ADVENTURE! Ladeebug

We're living in Dayton Ohio now.

We're looking at moving to Fort Walton Beach area, either FWB, Mar Ester, Niceville, or Navarre.
What attracts us to Florida? that's a long list: Family, the weather, the Emerald Coast, jobs, did I mention the weather
We've asked family down there, as well as Citi-data; we've read postings of people like all of you that are immensely helpful.
We visit family in FWB at least once a year for a week or so. Every time I go down there I become less inclined to leave
Yes we talk to our family down there often.
I would love any info anybody has personal information on the quality of Navarre schools because that seems to be our top choice for affordable housing.

Where are you from? East Stroudsburg, PA

Where in Florida are you moving? Would like to reside in the Tampa area!

What attracts you to Florida? Since I graduated High School, have always had a thing for Florida, grandparents lived in Deland. Visited very often to see them. A good friend just moved to Apollo beach, knows how I feel about moving down there, feels I will love it and finally full-fill my dream of it.

What research did you do or have already done to pick your city or location? After reading some of the threads ppl have wrote, really turns me off of the Tampa location. Still looking up things in the area. Using online sites, tampa tribune for other info.

Did you spend time in that town in person? Not in Tampa. I have only been to Daytona, and Deland.

Did you communicate with people who live their personally? Yes, in a nearby area.

I moved here almost three years ago from the midwest and it was a culture shock at first. Once I settled in, I met the woman of my dreams and we are expecting our first. Needless to say we will likely stick around in Central Florida for a while...

Default Can musicians make a living in South Florida

What are you from? I am from upstate NY, the snow captial - Buffalo

Where in Florida are you moving? I was considering the Fort Lauderdale or Deerfield Beach area. I would like to consider the smaller community of Deerfield Beach based upon the price of housing. I may rent first, but it is a buyers market and it appears that Deerfield Beach may be a quite community with more reasonable housing
What attracts you to Florida? - I like the idea of being close to the beaches and the reputation for the nightclubs
What research did you do or have already done to pick your city or location? I've done some research on the internet regarding the housing market. Looks like there is a lot out there; however I'm concerned about the number of foreclosures in those 2 areas
Did you spend time in that town in person? - No, I got feedback from a few freinds that visited in May 2008
Did you communicate with people who live their personally? - Not really. I was hoping to visit next month a check out a few clubs, etc. Also, I'm trying to get a feel for the cost of living. Do people still go out much? How is the tourism?

Just some ideas.

I am interested in where you moved from and where you moved to and your specifics, I am interested in hearing from those who moved away and now have moved back and decided it was the right thing for you to do.

If you moved away and are coming back, where did you move to and where did you move back to in Florida?

Thank you from allot of us for posting your information.[/quote]
