Do not move to the panhandle
sorry guys have my own little plans for florida's emerald coast and don't want the secret to get out. as they say in P'cola they have four seasons early summer, summer, late summer, and Christmas. I will trade chilly mornings in early march and a reasonable cost of living to overpopulated other parts of the state.

Who is, has or wants to move to Florida ?
I am originally from NJ. Lived in Kissimee for three years in the 1990's befor moving to Miami. Bought a home there and husband and I decided to move back to NJ in 2003 due to the property taxes just eating us up. Not to mention the traffic, tourists. Well I HATE NJ, so we moved to Tennessee two years ago. The recent tornadoes that tore into Murfreeboro scared the pants off me and I am desperatly trying to convince hubby to return to Fl.( hey you can outrun a hurricane with a few days notice)
Were renters now, so the property taxes are not an issue. But I need a good argument to convince him to move back there. He hates the heat, but I hate the fear of tornadoes even more. hey you can stay in with the air conditioner right?
I need to find a place with cheap rents as in Tn and security jobs. My husband has been in security for 13 years..so
anyone with any ideas, suggestions..please feel free to message me

Looking to move to FL, primarily Tampa Bay Area or Orlando area...need help!
Hello everyone!
I am looking to move to Florida, primarily the Tampa Bay area or the Orlando area. I have visited Tampa once and liked it. I've visited Orlando multiple times. I can't decide what is the best place in the Tampa Bay area...St. Petersburg, Clearwater, or Tampa? I am a young professional (28..going to be 29 soon). Safety is a priority for me. I was in downtown Tampa when I visited for a conference but it seemed dead. I'm not into the club/bar scene but want to know that I have options if I ever decide to go out to a club or bar.
I've heard St. Petersburg is gorgeous. I'm a beach bum and thats one of the main reasons I'd like to move to the Tampa Bay area. I also love the weather as I hate the cold weather. Most likely I would be renting a apartment. Are jobs plentiful in that area as I am looking for work in IT support (helpdesk/desktop support).
I've lived in Charlotte, NC my whole life and loved it. Now I am in Chicago temporarily but do not like the cold at all.
Any or all help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

"I think I will eventually go back home to New Jersey! I would rather shovel snow than live a life with no family and friends! Home is always where the heart is! "
I felt the same way. I'm back home with family and friends. Florida has a lot to offer but is not for everybody.

This is the last place you wanna come looking for a job. I wouldn't move here unless you had a good paying job with benefits in hand already. The IT industry is not big to say the least down here. Construction, tourism, and labor are king down here with not much in between. Not big business or IT support. You are right about downtown Tampa. Every time I've been there it was like a ghost town. Also St. Pete is scenic and all but the average age is like 110. NOthing but dieing old people. No place for someone in their 20's. I've heard Orlando is very spotty and can be very dangerous so you would have to be careful where you go. It is also inland and far from the beach. Stay away from Jacksonville since it's old skool and even more dead than downtown Tampa. You might want to look into the Ft. Lauderdale area. There is much more to do there and lots of young partiers and beachgoers. Also lots of upscale areas around. You will find that things are very different when you visit someplace on vacation and when you actually live there. Good luck.

There is several of you who have moved away from Florida and have decided to move back, your info I feel is important because you have been on both sides of your decisions and therefore your opinion is very valudable to those who want to move to Florida in the future.
So, if you have plans, have already moved or want to move to Florida we would like to hear from you.
What are you from?
Where in Florida are you moving?
What attracts you to Florida?
What research did you do or have already done to pick your city or location?
Did you spend time in that town in person?
Did you communicate with people who live their personally?
Just some ideas.
I am interested in where you moved from and where you moved to and your specifics, I am interested in hearing from those who moved away and now have moved back and decided it was the right thing for you to do.
If you moved away and are coming back, where did you move to and where did you move back to in Florida?
Thank you from allot of us for posting your information.

Ok, compare the above post by Floridabound09 to that started by Sunny-Days90 below:

Since the other thread got closed because of the negativity, maybe we can stay positive and let those who did moved back post without a bunch of negatives tossed in.
If you can remember anyone from the past who posted here who moved back mention there names so we go back on their post and read. I enjoy doing this myself.
So the topic is:
WHO MOVED BACK TO FLORIDA after moving out of Florida?
Where did you or are you moving back from?
Where did you or are you moving to?

It's kind of ironic that they are of the same tone. Could it be,
Floridabound09 = Sunny-Days90 ?
Have you actually seen them in the same room together?
And do you wonder why threads that start positive about moving to FL end up getting closed because of negativity? Just to have another started again and let this vicious cycle continue?
Hmmm...LOL.
Talk about the need for positive reinforcement, just come on and move down here already!
