I am 25 years old and recently married. My husband and I have been bouncing around the New England and NJ area.
We are thinking of relocating to Florida. Preferably on the east coast (my grandmother lives in Vero Beach and I'd like to be at the most within a few hours away). I know Florida is notorious for having places chock full of retirees so I am looking for a place where a young couple will be happy and not bored. Low crime, people who speak English, nearby shopping, beaches, and restaurants. I'm not really into living in big cities, but I am used to living areas around cities like NYC/Boston that have all the amenities. I am in the tech field and would need a place that has companies or businesses nearby. Places that have quite reasonable renting prices as are not very wealthy, but I am willing to make some sacrifices to live in an area like that. ![]() I have been doing research and there is just so much information I am not quite sure where to start. Any suggestions on where to go or perhaps what to exclude? All help is appreciated. Thank you!! |

Have you checked out the Space Coast, consists of Melbourne, Rockledge, Palm Bay, Titusville areas. There's plenty to do, you have the Space Center, Cocoa Pier, the beaches are great. Plenty of restaurants and clubs. I live in Rockledge and the snow bird season is not a problem as it is in some areas. Good luck..

Thanks! I am going to look into those areas. But for now it seems as though all the jobs in my field are in Pompano Beach, Ft Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and Hollywood. Are those towns someone may recommend for someone who is seeking what I am seeking? Or any towns in that area?

Quote:
Work in Pompano, live in Coral Springs or Parkland, 15-20 minutes west Work in Fort Lauderdale, live in Davie or Weston (large Hispanic population and you will hear Spanish but these people speak English as well), 15-30 minutes west Work in Hollywood, live in Cooper City- 15-20 minutes west. Work in Boca Raton, live in Boca Raton. I tried to keep in mind your "Speak English" request as well. Some of these communities have a heavy (but not dominant) Hispanic population (Weston, Coral Springs) while other don't (Parkland, Boca Raton). You will find that north of the Dade County line most Hispanics are English speaking and blend into the middle class, although still maintain their culture and definitely speak their language in public around their families. Interestingly enough, Fort Lauderdale and Pompano don't have much of a Spanish-speaking population at all. But they have a lot of bad parts. Hollywood does but they also tend to be the more assimilated types. |
