Dam....

Westchester airport is the best thing in Westchester. When I travel I avoid La Guardia and JFK at all cost. HPN all the way! It's a bit more money, but I rather pay a little more than have to deal with the travel to LAG or JFK.

Certainly EVERYTHING is not better in NY. The water is very good though.

A lot of stuff was brought to the U.S. by immigrants and those immigrants tended to stay not far from where they landed. That brought NYkers to have foods they never heard of. As NYkers relocated they brought those specialties to new places and more and more people got exposed to these things.

When you grow up with a wide variety of foods you like to have those things available no matter where you go. 25 years ago NY style pizza was difficult to come by. So were bagels and knishes. Now Publix has Brooklyn made knishes, carries U-Bet chocolate syrup (vanilla too!).

How about a nice egg cream? Ive had them in FL and they were exactly like NYC egg creams.

I've had bagels in New York. They tasted like, well, bagels.

I've also had bagels in Florida. Those too tasted like bagels.

Perhaps I'm missing something, or maybe there's one particular shop in New York that has bagels that puts all other bagels to shame (both from Florida and other New York bagels), but in terms of regions as a whole, I'll confess I just didn't see that marked a difference.

There is no difference. Its water and flour.

Last time I was in Florida, I found a cafe that had pretty darned good Bagels. Don't remember the name, but it was in a Publix Shopping center at PGA Blvd and Military Trail, across from the DoubleTree.

Think you got trouble. Try finding good NY Bagels in Colorado.

I've had this stupid argument as nauseum with NY'ers.
Bagels are bagels and pizza is pizza.
I've had bagels and pizza all up and down the east coast, especially while I'm in Florida.
As a born and raised NY'er I have noticed no difference whatsoever anywhere.
Crap all tastes the same. I've had lousy pizza and bagels in NY. I've also encountered lousy pizza and bagels outside of NY. I've had some of the best pizza and bagels outside of NY.
In fact for the most part, NY pizza tends to be extremely oily.

I would like to meet up with you and a couple of my Italian friends so you can verbally express that thought instead of being just another wimp hiding behind keyboard.

Oily means commercial pizza cheese (it comes out of 5 gallon buckets).

Real mozzarella doesnt cause that.

Apparently there's some sort of magical water in New York that the rest of the nation isn't privy to, and it makes all the difference.

So NY pizza isn't even made with real cheese.
