Smile seeking help/advice???

Hello everyone,

Here's my situation. My wife and I have been wanting to move to Florida for the longest. We've decided that area of West Palm Beach would be good for us. However, we currently live in state of NJ. Our lease is officially up in end of Jan 07. I guess after three years of renting, plus winters, tired of it. Anyhow, we are seeking a 1 bedroom apt for around 700-825 around either Boynton Beach, WPB, Lake Worth, etc. I've looked in sites such as rent.com and even spoken to several places. The thing is, all these places are so complicated to rent. I say this because they have income restrictions which are somewhat limited. Our current situation is that I am currently unemployed do to company moving to Colorado. However, I was given a severance by employer besides unemployment benefits which is plenty. Does anyone know of a someone who owns a one bedroom apartment looking to rent around for beg of FEB 07? We would really appreciate it. We are seeking either 6,8 or 12mnth lease. Any would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

DJRMAN

west palm beach would not be a good place to live. neither would northwest miami-dade county, as those areas are very badly crime and drug ridden. but you can try fort lauderdale/broward county. other areas that i hear are nice are; southwest miami-dade, fort myers/cape coral, punta gorda, tampa, naples, and the keys. (especially considering that i, myself, have been to tampa, fort lauderdale, and the keys.)

It is not realistic, nor a good idea, to rent site unseen.

Better is to come down to the area you are interested in, drive/walk around, and look for "for rent" signs (there is no lack of them) and negotiate. If you show an owner the equivalent of three months rent, usually that would do it.

Hopefully you have relatives in the area who can host you for a week or two so you have time to do it right.

There are both some nice and some seedy areas of West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach, so you really have to know them neighborhood by neighborhood. The internet can only help you so much there.

In any case, try craigslist West Palm Beach for rental listings by owner. Remember that the prices you see are asking prices.
