Have any of you been following this abominable practice that is happening here in Florida? I for one am horrified and appalled that this is being allowed. I have been following social media and cannot believe the pictures of dead and orphaned cubs and the grinning fools who are so proud to kill these magnificent animals. What is wrong with people? I am so disgusted with this government and the Scott cronies in the Florida Wildlife Commission that if I wasn't already living here, there is no way I would move to this state.

I'm not against hunting (although I myself couldn't do it). I understand the need to cull deer, as too many can lead to diseases and starvation. And I do think if you kill it, you should eat it. Plus, it's a much more humane way of killing if it can be done with a clean shot and the animal dies instantly.

We have several friends in other areas of the country who have considered relocating here, but I am trying my best to discourage them. This State has been sold to the highest bidder and it's nauseating.

A very sad situation indeed. I assumed there would be rules against hunting mama bears with cubs but I was wrong many lactating females were taken. Somewhere now out there in the wild are multiple orphaned cubs. Pretty disgusting considering the easiest and best way to cut down on bear/human interaction would be to educate and provide people with bear proof garbage cans.

Absolutely. All of this was entirely uncalled for. Very sad indeed.

Why is this even a thing? This isn't like deer-hunting. Deer are overpopulated AND serve as a form of food. Bear populations are relatively low and nothing can really be done with a bear carcass.

The whole concept is disgusting.

These bears are dangerous animals! And they are showing up in people's yards threatening their children by the hundreds daily. They need to brought down to a level where human lives are not at risk.

None at all. I'm not an animal lover, and dangerous animals like bears the less of the better.

They're only dangerous when we encroach on their territory. They don't come looking for us.

Exactly. They really aren't much of a threat. They don't actively hunt humans, and are pretty intelligent, so if they do attack, they have a reason to do it (feel threatened, protecting young, etc.)
