Hello,

I was wondering, what are some of the:

1.) larger engineering colleges in Florida
2.) best engineer colleges in Florida
3.) which engineering college in Florida would you go to and why?

Anyone know what the post grad hire rate (for the engineers) of any of the schools are?

1.) UCF, USF, UF all have pretty large engineering colleges.
2.) FIT by far
3.) I went to USF. I had the choice between UCF, USF, and UF. It was a matter of which campus I preferred, as they're all comparable in terms of quality.

Not sure about hire rate, but neither I nor any of my friends has ANY trouble finding jobs within months of graduation. (I got my job prior to earning my degree.)

Also, FAU, and FIU in south FL have large schools of Engineering.
Engineering can be a unique major in the sense that for admissions purposes.... it may be harder to gain admission in to a university if you're applying into the engineering school vs applying as undecided or some humanities major.

If looking at overall rankings, UF is ranked #40 out of the Top 50 Undergraduate Engineering Programs by US News (the most popular rankings used). UF is the only Florida school ranked. If looking at Graduate level Engineering, US News ranks UF #43, UCF is #85, USF is #99, Florida A&M is #117 and Embry-Riddle is #127.

I would recommend applying to Top 50 schools and going where one actually gets in, and apply to "safety" schools in the Top 50-100 choosing whichever is best of that group. Engineering is currently one of the few high return on investment degrees and wouldn't let something like in-state tuition be the determining factor.

UF would by far be my first choice but good luck getting in. It's a tough school.

If I'm not mistaken, UF is ranked as on of the top public universities in the US.

About to graduate from EE in Spring '16 at FIU. Okay engineering program, though i'm sure North FL has better engineering schools than the South. About the job question, most of my friends is going away from Miami since there is no job beside working for FPL and Turkey Point. I'm not planning to stay, either. Unless you plan to do graduate school, any engineering school will be fine. Just gotta keep your GPA at 3.5, you'll get offer from Boeing and Texas Instruments lol

This. Sorry, but Kyle, I'll have to disagree with you.
Based on my own experience in the field, employers tend to ignore where you got the degree, as long as it's ABET accredited.
UCF, USF, UF -- none will make a real difference.

Even in positions that require graduate level work? That goes contradictory to pretty much every other profession when it comes to choosing potential employees. So Employee "A" who graduated from MIT is on equal footing with Employee "B" who graduated from USF? I have a hard time believing that.
