We just returned from the panhandle. Liked it. Would probably buy a place there if we could get a straight answer from the realtor we dealt with among other things. Plus get about a 15-20% reduction from the asking price. We'd probably take a shot then.

Depends. We're not looking to steal anything but are max attentive of the fact that MOST real estate is overpriced at this point and don't want to make a bad decision.

Did you see that this psycho in the white house is talking about sending another 40,000 troops to Vietnam? Oops I mean Iraq? Are you old enough to remember what happened to the economy 5 years after Vietnam? I am. And that's when we had no debt. No 8 1/2 TRILLION in debt. Still had a partial manufacturing base left. No 75 MILLION boomers getting ready to collect socialist security along with another 40-60 Trillion in unfunded liabilities.

It's going to take more than just an average deal to motivate us to take a few hundred thousand dollars out of an interest bearing investment and put it into another house.

MrTudo- what do you see happening as a result of this? Are less houses selling there now?

sunny

We sold the house but are renting now. We aren't sure if we are going to buy another home to snowbird back and forth down here. It's been too depressing with all the hurricanes and insurance and tax problems.

I really think we will just come on down and visit and not own.
