I was born and raised here, love it here. I am a Florida girl through and through. Yes, it would definitely have been on my radar - I love the coast, the warmth, sun, tropical everything and the look of the architecture here. I never plan to leave.

Interesting responses. I'm glad this didn't turn into an anti-Florida thread, I was worried it would.

I have spent most of my life in Florida but have fortunate enough that my schooling and profession has allowed me to see and experience many other areas of the country. The issue I have with the premise of this question is the "if you weren't born there" is a big "if". My honest answer is probably not, I enjoy the more moderate temperatures, urban environments as you do PDF. But getting back to the "if", as much as I enjoyed those things when I lived in Boston and other places they are hard to enjoy alone. The "if" to me is my family, as much as I prefer the north over Florida it's hard to live in a place where you personally don't have roots and everyone seems so personally entrenched. But to me, once I got over the new scenery, the excitement of the city, and saw all the sights, basically once life settled down into a regular routine I missed home, I missed my family. There's only so many times you can go to the museums or sights, after a while you start having regrets about missing out on birthdays, weddings, holidays, etc. I know not everyone feels this way because everyone has a different family dynamic, but for myself, I chose my personal relationships over my personal preferences. If I won the powerball tonight I would still be here in Florida...of course with a private jet and townhouses and mansions scattered all over the world (hahahaha), but I'd still call this place home.

I am a native Floridian whose parents screwed up and left for California from Florida's east coast before I was born. But I was conceived here, so I am native.

Guess what. We are ALL back in Florida now, but this time on the Gulf Coast.

I came so close to being born in Illinois. My whole family is from Chicago, they moved to Tampa, and then I was born. But hey NPG, California is pretty cool.

I was conceived here in Florida as well, parents moved to New Jersey. I loved growing up in a small Jersey Shore town, if we stayed here I would have grown up in Westside Jacksonville/Orange Park. I always loved Florida and as soon as I was out of High School I came to college in Florida, and have not left.

I was born and raised in the northern states, specifically Michigan. But we traveled alot when I was younger because my mom loved the Caribbean and Florida because its "tropical". She was too scared to move because we have no family in FL.

I've always envied people that got to grow up in warmer states I always told myself when I had the chance I was moving south LOL And here I am, living in beautiful Florida now! My children are 3 and 5 years old so I am extremely happy they get to grow up here. I kinda felt jipped living in Michigan because its cold and snowy for so long and I have never liked the cold!
