Our Citizens premium this year was $2,300. That includes discounts totaling approximately 30 percent for hurricane shutters, a high-impact garage door rated for a Category 5 storm and a hip-shaped roof. Our premium will rise to at least $3,200 next year thanks to a Citizens rate increase already approved, and would go up to almost $5,100 if a second Citizens rate increase goes through pending the results of the Legislature's special session on insurance in January. Next-door neighbor paid $2,900 this year; woman across the street paid $1,700; they'll get hit with the same increases.

House value here, $385,000. Homeowners insurance, $500 per year. Property taxes, $2,000. Location, Peoria, AZ. We would still like to move to Florida and hope that the insurance crisis is soon solved.

jbravo...just looked at amica's website. I was going to request a quote just to see what it would be and they don't even give an option for that for Florida. They just skip right over Florida to Georgia!

I just called their office and they limited the issue of policies to the interior of the state, new constructions with pre-qualifiying requirements. Questions can be directed to 800-247-9022 Florida PR for Amica....

I'm afraid to open our bill without a drink in my hand. We made a claim for a damaged roof and and fence and thinking we will get hit even higher for that.

I think TWO drinks will be better. One for each hand and then, you can't open the bill. hahahaha.
Good luck. I'm one of those who got a bill for $6482 for this renewal. I'm still drinking. nahhh j/k but maybe not a bad idea.
