What do you all mean by The Villages? Is it a specific area in Florida?

The Villages is a HUGE development in several counties up near Ocala/Bellview
I know that part of it is in Sumter county, its like a self-contained village suppose to be very nice, have never visited myself, but have seen pictures and heard from people that it is the place to be. |

We visited for 3 days this past fall. It's very expensive to live there with CDD and POA. It's also very conservative, if you like this kind of stuff. They have their own newspaper and the same person who owns the newspaper owns the radio station that they pump 24/7 throught the common areas. The newspaper even prints columns written Ann Coulter and Ollie North. So if this is your thing, then you'll love the Villages.

I've done a lot of research on The Villages in my quest for the "perfect town" and they have a very interesting Forum which is free called Talkofthevillages dot com. I've learned a lot from it. They do have several singles clubs which also have web sites. However, COUPLES are the vast majority !
