Is The Villages suitable for singles?
I get the impression that The Villages is composed of primarily couples. I cannot seem to find any statistics on this, tho.
Are there any single MEN there? Or only single women? And are there any of either sex?

I'm sure there are singles of both sexes there, it's a huge development with many different size and style housing options and tons of social clubs for many activities and interests. If you want stats, I know their website has a ph # w/ a 1 800#, they'd probably be more than happy to talk to you about any specific questions you may have, just try googling them (I don't have it handy here or I'd post it).

My parents are looking at the Villages, so I have heard a lot about it. I have heard that there is a lot of "hocking up" happening. My mom said and the news said it, that the Villages had/has an STD issue. I guess there is some singles there having sex with different partners. So I don't think you will have a hard time finding single people.

I have a friend who lives there and she can't say enough good things about it. She LOVES it and when her kids visit they love it too. She at the moment is single but she met someone there and is getting married in a couple months.

I have to laugh, women out number men by 3 to 2 or something like that, if the women are single, first question is usually Do you have a pension? Own your own home? Divorced/widowed? I have been involved in several singles clubs and if a new male member comes in, the women swarm like locus, the motives are clear, a free meal, handyman service and companionship. I'm sure that at the Villages its the same as everywhere in Fl. Both sexes need to be careful out there.
I have mutual friends that moved from Va. to the Villages and they absolutely love it up there. I've seen pictures and it looks very nice, but a little pricey, with amenities.
