I can spend 700-750 a month for 3 months in the winter. Be it rent a room, or extended motel. Doesnt look like Florida has shorterm leases of 3 months in apartments. If I could find 600 even better!

What I am looking for is what I'lll call village life. I want to live very near the downtown where I can bicycle to the library, the grocery store, a family restuarant, where there may even be a park very close of a city center gazebo. So this can be small to mid size town/city. I will have a car, but I would feel I can immerse in with the locals by bicycle getting to know people.

Im looking eventually to be a permanent resident. But for right now I can try out for 3 months. And if you come up with some great possibilities maybe I could stay a month in each!

Panhandle, Treasure Coast, Tampa Bay...So many places near the coast. I need your help for folks who can recognize the sort of place I am talking about.

Industry/job isnt necessary. And it will be only just me. And young folks who think everywhere you can bike, nope not for me. Im talking a concentrated sort of area cuz Im not in shape. But do not want big cities with all its crime. I would like a safer place.

Winter is all good, a little colder, a lot warmer doesnt matter, so anwhere north to south.

Try "airbnb" as they rent houses for people everywhere and for days, weeks and months, so I am sure you can find something there. Check with FL rental companies as well.

Do you have any suggestions for cities I can live "village-like"?

Miami Beach / South Beach, you won't need a car, but with your budget, you'll need roomates. Check craigslist.com shared apartments.

Dunedin is very bike/bus friendly but a three month rental in winter will probably cost more than $700 although going inland and considering a mobile home may help. If you can extend to 7 month rental you will avoid 13% taxes on rent.

Punta Gorda is extremely bike friendly.

Mount Dora might work too.

There's a neat, vibrant downtown that sits on a large lake with 2 big parks within walking distance. The walk up to the library isn't bad either. I used to do it from my house and I enjoyed it. Definitely worth a glance. Lots of snowbirds/temp residents in the area, so you'll fit right in.
