Will be driving from Jacksonville to Fort Lauderdale airport to return rental car on a Sunday in March, then taxiing to the cruise ship terminal. How much time should we allow?

6 hours, give or take.

6+ hours in case there's an accident or smoke. I don't do that drive that often and I have experienced both. Regularly it should take you 5 hours. You probably will have to stop for gas.
