Where in Florida can I find a quiet affordable beach resort, as a retreat to get inspired to write and finish a few creative projects? And not too far from civilization?
Any suggestions?

Bill Baggs, at least during the week.

I think you might be looking on the wrong coast of Florida. The west coast (Ft. Myers, Venice, Sarasota) tends to offer quieter places that are more contemplative.

in south FL...during the week many beaches are generally pretty quiet bar south Beach, Fort Lauderdale beach...

I find in Broward Pompano Beach to be a pretty quiet beach...the one's north of Commercial BLVD.
Also, Deerfield Beach south of Hillsborough BLVD is pretty quiet.

Boca Raton beaches are quiet... Gumbo Limbo Park.
Delray beach north of Atlantic BLVD is also quiet as well where the sailbots launch... super quiet.

in dade... a little different kind of scene. but the beaches of key biscayne are quietish during the week.

Beaches in Palm Beach are usually quiet unless if there is a holiday.

Not sure how much civilization you need, but is the Bahamas an option? I'd go to Abaco. Treasure Cay.

We recently went down to Captiva. The beaches are pretty much all private, owned by the resorts themselves, so from what I saw, they were EXTREMELY quiet and peaceful. As for affordable, depends on what you consider "affordable." It's not on the cheap side, that's for sure. But it was a sharp contrast to any of the Sanibel Island beaches we saw, which were packed with tourists and snowbirds. Fort Myers and Naples are both a [somewhat] short distance away.
On the other coast, a favorite of mine for a quiet getaway is Playalinda Beach, which is very remote and in the middle of a conservation area. Short drive from Titusville. I'm not sure about resorts in the area, though.

If you go in the winter in North FL and the Panhandle, St Augustine, Daytona( not during Bike Week), Panama City( not during Spring Break), Pensacola... It is cheaper and not crowed at all... It will be colder than south FL. Look into Cedar Key SW of Gainesville, not a huge resort area but some smaller places in a smaller town
