We installed White Cliff Cambria countertops on 09/29/15. Customer emailed me pictures of her cracked Cambria countertop 02/10/16. Cambria Representative and Owner of our company went out to assess the issue right away.

However, Cambria has investigated the material and found no defect, nor could they find anything wrong with the way we fabricated or installed the countertop. We have been working with Cambria Quartz for over 9 years and have never came across this issue. Would anyone have any thoughts on how this countertop would crack like this? We are going to remake this countertop of course but not sure what made it happen to prevent this in the future.

We know Quartz can crack as a result of force and or pressure, direct or sustained heat, improper support or a combination of these factors but this countertop is not showing any of these signs.

Thanks Norma

I suppose someone might have stood on top of the counter to reach the top of a cupboard or an overhead fixture. It's obviously on the corner so I imagine there is a cabinet box to the left and another to the right at right angles to each other leaving the corner with the least support. I don't have any particular expertise but the location seems to indicate a stress induced fracture to me, rather than a material weakness.

You have to ask the tenant how it cracked. Things like that do not just happen. Like others said they must have gotten on top of it for some reason. To reach a cabinet to clean it or something.
