Now you're upsetting me....with all the NY'er types down there how can no good pizza joints not exist!!

That's not true anymore. There are some really good pizza places and some phenomenal italian food places too (at least here in Wellington). What I cannot find is any good Chinese food, lol!

Personally, I love to see them come. Without their influx of money, Florida would not be anything like it is. Yes, the traffic and lines at stores is worse, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Keep coming folks, a lot of us know the reality of our economy here in Florida, and you are a big part of it.

I liked Florida better when it still was southern. Florida is turning into a northern state now. Some restaurants don't even serve grits for breakfast. That's a big no no in the south.

Are you old enough to remember when Florida was still "southern"? I don't think the state, as a whole, has been southern since at least the 1950s and probably much earlier than that.

As for southern food, too often it's too salty, too sweet or too greasy. Sometimes all in the same dish.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Florida was still very southern when I first started visiting.
I did notice a dramatic shift from the early 80's to early 90's.
Was definitely trending towards less southern.

The whole Country is changing. All the fast food is the same companies, the restaurants are the same chains, the Mall all have the same stores. Very few actual "Local" restaurants any more as an example. What used to distinguish areas of the Country now exists mainly in the small rural towns. The major cities and surrounding areas are homogenizing. It isn't really Northern, it just happened in the North and West Coast first so it seems Norther and isn't really.
