I almost bought a little house by Lake Ola, Crane. Big expensive homes going up down the street. Whoever bought it (around 60k) got a gold mine I think. I'm sure the former owner's estate just wanted to get rid of it. I had noticed the house a couple of years prior while staying at the bed and breakfast (Cinammon Inn) across the street. Close to Mt Dora and lovely Trimble Park. I just wasn't ready to do it. Oh well.

The last time I was up there they were breaking ground for a group of homes a couple of blocks from the Cinammon. Perhaps those are of interest to someone as they are not as obvious as SH, but lovely I'm sure.

You mean that whole Tangerine/Zellwood area? It's still pretty creepy... That Terrell/Wadsworth/Dudley part of Tangerine and that part of Zellwood down Willow st are two areas I would never suggest one ventures out to; unless you need drugs.

Yup, that would be crackylvania.

Good info!! What do you guys think of Elysium, Chester hill, and Dogwood mountain subdivisions? Also, is there any areas I should avoid?

Those are all good choices. That being said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Elysium, and if it's an option for you, would definitely pick it over any of the other ones.

Areas to avoid? I personally wouldn't live West of Morningside. A bit too close to Wal-Mart (and we know the crowds Wal-Mart can attract, especially at night) and income-based apartment complexes.
Also, avoid going East of Donnelly North of 5th Ave, unless just driving through or doing to the Community Park/Swimming pool area. For obvious reasons https://www.google.com/maps/@28.8092...7i13312!8i6656

Unless that's your kind of thing.

There's also a new subdivision being built right next to Elysium. Dora Park. It's very nice. If it's within your budget (considering you're looking at Elysium and Chesterhill, I'm going to assume it is, or is at least close) it might be worth a look. Dora Parc

Thank you so much Arcenal352. I really appreciate the info. We cannot afford Dora Park. It starts in the low 500's. I have been looking for years now in the other subdivisions and can afford some houses in those. Depends I guess how much sq footage and if they need to be fixed up. I am looking all over Mount Dora, with the exception of some areas like you mentioned. We are waiting for my husband to transfer his job to list our house here in Ocala, then hopefully find something we like. Thank you again.
