Hi, my husband and I will be relocating to Fort Lauderdale area. Would love to live in area to walk to beach. if not that would love to be in walking distance of restaurants shopping bars... Budget 1500. To. 2000. Per month. Want to buy but will probably rent to get to know areas. Lauderdale by the sea? Las Olas, Flagler.
Also would we get a lot more for our money in say Pompano, Pembroke Pines, or wherever else you might suggest. Open to lofts, small homes, 2 plus bedrooms, condos but have to have at least 1500 /sq ft. And yes I know about condo fees. Also have 2 small dogs. So confusing on Zillow. Thanks so much

You might look at the Young Circle area in Hollywood which has a nice walkable feel with shops/restaurants and it's about a mile from the beach. Outside of that if you want something beachside you might look at Hallandale Beach. It used to have a reputation of being very old in terms of average age but has gone through a bit of a transformation over the past 15-20 years into a slightly younger city (median age is still higher at 53) with a good deal of desirable shops/restaurants in close proximity if walking, particularly along E. Hallandale Beach Blvd just west of the Intracoastal Waterway.
