Well, St. Augustine just spent 77 million dollars to close down an old bridge, build a perfectly good brand new bridge, "rehabilitate" the old bridge only to ultimately tear down the perfectly good brand new bridge and re-open the old bridge.
all because a few people (who fancy themselves "progressives" in almost every other area of interest) wanted to preserve an outdated, totally NON HISTORICAL structure based on weeping emotion and moronic, irrational sentiment. |

Wow that is really scary the 836 expressway at nw72 ave, a main east/west expressway next to MIA. A MAJOR expressway in Miami that thousands go across or sit on waiting for traffic to move, is not safe. Yet people are still driving on it because they have too.
Now the 836 is a toll road, where is the money that tax payers pay each day to ride that road?????????? I remember ten years ago when I lived in Tally, and we found out that the money that was collected on the Miami Expressway 836 was going to be used to pave the roads in Tallahassee. Which turned out great btw, thanks to the 836 drivers. I found that so unfair. The money collected on those roads should be put back to keep those roads in shape, and any extra money could be given to other parts of the community, not sent to another county. |

Even scarier is that this does not include bridges in an early state of decline. I have seen some cracks and corrosion on a lot of bridges not mentioned, such as the Jewfish Creek bridge on US-1. Seeing the bridge on US-27 by south bay listed is no surprise, that thing is so bad that it sometimes moves when a heavy load is on it. The 836/72 ave is a surprise though, I go under and over that thing often and never noticed any problems.

Any projects on-going to correct the deficiencies?
![]() This should be priority #1, this can be a huge problem during hurricanes.... ![]() |

We had two small bridges for local roads over a canal that were deemed "structurally deficient" around here. They knocked them down and replaced them pretty quickly.

Would you all be willing to pay 25-50 cents more per gallon to fix these problems? Everybody says they don't want crumbling bridges, but the money just isn't there otherwise.
