If your not a native of Florida but live there now, what do you miss about the state you grew up in compared to Florida? (Or the last state you left) And go.............

Even though I am a native of Florida, I have lived in Louisville, Ky. where my dad is from and I will say the greenery is something you miss. Kentucky is a beautiful state with rich soil that gives the grass a tint of blue. The best time is Derby time at Churchill Downs, the trees are all in bloom and all the pretty ladies wearing their fancy hats. I will say Kentucky has the prettiest women in America and some of the nicest.
My high school in 2014 had a reunion at Churchill Downs, I didn't attend but saw plenty of pictures though. Nothing is ever the same when you go back, that is what I have learned in life.

I am already missing something, and it has something to do with an apostrophe.

I moved from California, but have lived in Australia, Washington, Alaska before as well, but California (San Francisco) was the most recent, so I'll speak based on that.

1) Mountains - Self explanatory

2) Soft grass - St. Augustine looks nice, but is a very rough grass, not exactly good for laying on without a towel/blanket

3) Less bugs - Hiking in California doesn't require bug spray

4) Asian influence - I miss having real authentic options, for example there is no such thing as Chinese food... there is sichuan, cantonese, hunan etc. I also miss late night Asian dessert cafes and real dim sum / yum cha restaurants, shabu shabu, hot pot, bakeries (paris baquette!!) etc.

Overall though, I enjoy living in Florida more.

From Connecticut. I miss seasons, fall foliage, fall fairs, living near family, the first snow of the year, tulips, lilacs, the cultural scene, real pizza, and a general feeling of being surrounded by educated people.

Still, I like Florida better.

Just my father, and other family. Oh I miss White Castle too, and good sub shops.

Krystals! OK not as good, but it's a decent substitute.

When I lived in Florida the biggest things I came to miss were:

Cold air and water at times
Hills
Friends and family I could rely on
Fair wages

And most of all:

Real people who were down to earth. The people in Florida do not fit well together and clash, plus many people are very sleezy and shallow looking to extort others or are fascinated with their image or ego. It's not everyone but many. I even tried to stand out by being the exception, but it didn't really help things. Don't know what it is about Florida but it seems to bring out the worse in people. However I did appreciate the diversity, the approachability, and the good manners that many have.

To put things in perspective, most people in FL are from all other states, mixed with foreigners, so basically what you're saying is that a large % of Americans are sleazy and shallow looking etc..etc..

It's not FL that brings the worst in people, it's how people are..

Personally, I only miss the mountains in the PNW (lived briefly there), nothing else. The NE and Midwest is flat (same as FL) and cold (unlike FL). At least here you can enjoy the beach/ocean through various activities.
