"Mild climate" and "100 degree summers" match the description of humidity in so many words.

Not in the English language. "Degrees" measures temperature, nothing else. A mild climate is synonymous with a temperate climate, the definition of which does not include humidity.

What difference does it make anyway if those hurricanes wipe out the whole place every year?

If you are very near the ocean, you will get onshore breezes. Unless there is storm, the breeze will always be from cooler to warmer (the warmer air rises). I doubt that the humidity is lower by the ocean, but even in August the ocean won't get much over 80 degrees, so if it 90 degrees on the land - a cooling onshore breeze will form. So very close to the ocean, you can feel more comfortable than the torrid inland a few miles away.

Yeah, Las Vegas or Phoenix literally have weeks of 100 degree weather and virtually no humidity and you can cook an egg on a stone there.

Still building Buc? I gave up and put up a 5 person tent. When we hear a hurricane is out there we fold up the tent and head to the mountains in NC.

But we don't even have Canes in any year let alone every year. At least not in my area since 1921.
