Yep, driving through GA to get to FL I could not believe the number of accidents. Once in FL for a week, I saw ..... zero and I was in central FL in the Tampa area. I am sure there are bad drivers, but every State I have ever lived in or driven in for an length of time, has them. While the problems in most States come from young drivers who are idiots and ignore speed laws, those who (of all ages) are texting and alcohol/drugs, FL has the added problem of snow birds.

blah blah blah. .. there are bad drivers everywhere. I doubt people elsewhere wake up in the morning and on their commute think "gee golly, there sure are a lot of GREAT drivers in my area. How fortunate am I?"

Awesome post! Couldn't agree more - get so sick of the near constant complaining

The idea is to drive defensively. Watch what is going on all around you. If you see a driver on a cell phone, playing with their toys, switching lanes constantly, avoid them. Get as far away as possible.

Whats all this garbage about slow drivers in the left lane? If you come up behind one simply turn on your signal, move over and pass them. Once you're clear put on the signal again and move back to the left lane.

Complaining? That is the purpose of 98 % of the posters here. Complaining about weather, driving, other people, jobs, low wages, bad water, hurricanes, sinkholes, traffic, the cost of watermelons - if there is anything to complain about they will and they will do it here.

Because driving slow in the left lane is illegal....... It clogs the highway, creates traffic, accidents, road rage, etc. And again, it's ILLEGAL - for a reason.

Sure, its illegal but its just easier to pass and forget about it. I am sure if you dialed up the FHP to report it they would not respond. Another way to avoid the slow left lane driver is to flash your headlights a few times so perhaps they will move over to let you go by.

I wish that more drivers responded appropriately to that. Most of the time, I flash my lights and they either ignore me completely, drive even slower, or worse - slam on their brakes. And I am not a tailgater or someone who drives aggressively (at least not since I've had kids, lol). I don't like to pass someone on the right - not just because its illegal but because its potentially unsafe as well (I don't think drivers pay attention enough to be looking for someone passing them on the right). I don't understand what other drivers are thinking - here's a newsflash: If you're driving in the left lane and cars traveling in the RIGHT lane are passing you, you are driving too slow and should change lanes - its as simple as that, but yet so many drivers just don't get it

I always wished I could have a sign that would light up in my back window after I passed someone that was going to slow that said: "Do the speed limit or take the bus"

I've done that, and the last time I did it, he slowed down, so I passed on the right, then he started tailgating me and not letting me into the left lane to get around people in the middle and right lanes and forcing me to slow down. Then he'd speed way up and all of a sudden slow back down again. It stayed like that for a couple miles on I-95 in the Ormond Beach/Daytona area, so I got off and took US 92 back to DeLand instead of I-4 just incase he got on I-4. It's already a mess and I didn't want to deal with him there too.
