There are some very good public schools and some very bad ones, do your research... most cities have at least a few great schools for all grades. You can use greatschools.org as a guide. I moved around a lot when I was growing up, so this website was very useful. I'd choose Florida over a landlocked state any day, so you might want to consider it.

I would recommend looking into Boca Raton, it has great schools, extremely low crime, very nice beaches, nice atmosphere, and it's small but near big cities.

I think it depends on what you mean by "up north". Where I am unless you ski, hunt, or ice-fish (you couldn't pay me to do any of the above), we are housebound for minimum of 5 months. Seriously. And it's downright dreary to even stand by a window half the time. I know I'll get sick of sun and heat quickly in florida, but I just can't stand cold and dreary much longer.

So people who decide to move away from the snow are cowards? Yes there are people who do enjoy the cold, but calling someone a coward because they want to get away from feeling a cold so bitter that they cant feel anything sometimes, well that's just ignorant.

Best to just put that particular poster on your ignore list. He likes to troll and never adds anything even remotely useful or intelligent to the thread. Hopefully he'll be banned soon
