Congrats! See how you like it. Personally, I would recommend 12' to be the shortest size to consider with 13-14' to be right. The longer the waterline, the faster the boat (usually) and smaller kayaks tend to "zigzag" more as you paddle. Tarpon us a good brand, though, so I imagine the shape the hull to minimize that stuff.

Noticed that today (zigzag)...but easier to stow in truck and carry to waters edge as well as store in garage.

Kayaking is definitely awesome!

Glad you found a boat! You should consider getting a more comfortable pfd than that tosser you have pictured.

We went kayaking in Crystal River last Saturday, around the Plantation & King's Bay. It was beautiful, fun & we had several manatees swimming around us. Very cool!!

not using that (tosser)....did pick up a Class III vest that is pretty comfortable but I'm concerned it isn't bulky enough.....I've seen some thick PFDs.....I'm lightweight, so might not be an issue. My personal policy is to wear it all the time while on the water and not have it within reach. Nobody else I've seen does this - but an expert on the subject recommended it.

I'm getting a pretty good workout upper body.....arms feel pretty weak today....I went on google maps and was able to plot out my path and I'm getting in some kms .....that's the main reason - to get upper body exercise (as well as to see the wildlife and throw in a line to fish once in awhile).
