Default Moving to Lakeland or nearer Tampa

My husband and I are from a big city suburb looking to move to FL. We have a 1 year old and are in mid 20's. We really like Lakeland due to smaller town still with many things to do/close by. We are looking for RN and accountant jobs. Are both of these readily available in this area or would we have to commute? I know about the hospital but is the area not very safe to work in? I wouldn't want to live near the downtown since we prefer more subdivision life but I want to be safe at work too! What other "suburbs" are family friendly (safe, not too busy, close jobs, things to do) around this area or nearer to Tampa? Thanks!

If you like subdivisions, I would recommend the ones off Harden Road and Polk Parkway - Grasslands and Oakbridge. Not sure of your budget but this is a beautiful area right next to our fabulous new open-air mall, Lakeside Village. You should not have trouble with employment here, and Lakeland is a wonderful city to live in with much for families of all ages to do. However, you are right about NOT living near the hospital, the residential area around there is not so great; however you will be fine at work; I don't know of any problems to speak of. Outside of that, though, there are a lot of great neighborhoods here; you might hook up with a good realtor to show you around, or do some research on some of the realtor sites on the internet to get a feel for the different areas here.

Good luck!

Oh our budget is under 250K since we figure we will be making a little less if we move. We have found MANY gorgeous houses we can afford, we were more concerned about being able to get close jobs and which areas are the best. Thanks for the info!
