You weren't happy after you moved up north, and you aren't happy now. I think maybe you are taking your unhappiness with you.
This state has it's problems, but it has not "gone downhill" anymore than many other states here in this country. But I hope next time you move if you're still not happy you look within and try to discover what it is that is not satisfying you. I am not judging you at all, because I used to feel as you do, but I figured out my personal situation, made a few changes and am now happier than I have ever been.
Good luck to you, backtoFlorida.

I do not understand something. You left Florida because of that and moved to the NE, then didnt like it there and were extremely happy and missed Florida so you moved back. Now you have been there for 5-6 months and you are ready to leave again.
Guess I am confused. Florida could not have changed that much since you were in the NE. All states have changed allot, but from the time you were in Florida to the time you got back to Florida you are saying it went downhill that much?
Also, like above I am not judging you, bbut maybe you moved to the wrong town. I am still trying to find the town we want to move to and cannot begin to even think was is the ultimate choice in a town, but with all the post here on how bad Cape Coral/Ft Myers are there is no ways I would even out them on my list. I am sure some of the negativity is incorrect but there sure is allot of problems posted about that area.
I follow Gypsychic post and she moved from one area to the other and post how happy they are. Have you considered that?
I may be wrong but something tells me you wont like it back in the NE again. Did you leave it because you hated the cold?

Part was where I lived up there, I was way out in the boonies, on a mountain 1400 feet above sea level, pretty cold there. BUT my mother in law lived there with us and her arthritis was killing her. So we decided to come back here, well... she is moving to NJ now(long story). I had a solid job there, with benefits, decent pay. There is absolutely nothing here since I came back for jobs.
I have lived in a few towns here in FL. Melbourne, Orlando(no thanks), Bradenton, Naples(never again), and Vero Beach(nice but no jobs). I am in apartment management, and there used to be a lot of positions in that field, now they are rare, or in Orlando, Miami, Jax, or Tampa, areas there is no way I am moving to. So where else is good? I like the countryside in Inverness/Crystal River, but that is an area of NO jobs whatsoever...
Can't you see how bad the foreclosure rate is, prices of housing, food, everything is going up, but the pay doesn't.
Another reason I came here is to help run my parents new restaurant, well, thaks to the economy, and seasonal state of FL, it's barely making it. So that will end for me soon too, and god help them, they will lose a lot. I can't see it lasting 6-8 weeks. my moms house is borderline foreclosure. It's just terrible. I may have been cold there, but I had a job, and money in my pocket.
There are many positives here in FL. PLEASE don't take me as being a negative whiner. I only think I made a bad decision.

Thanks for explaining your situation to us. I feel bad for you and your family, that is really a lot of misfortune. Part of it probably does have to do with the area you and your parents are in, but I know that doesn't help you. And since you have ruled out moving to any of the 4 major cities in Florida for jobs, you are right, you probably won't get a decent paying job in any of the smaller towns.
I guess there are no magic answers, but hopefully something will work out for you down the road. Many years ago life was very tough for us and we almost lost our home, among other misfortunes, but over time our luck and finances turned and thank the Lord we are doing better than ever. So please don't ever give up hope.
Blessings,
~gypsychic~

Thank you for understanding. I just want people to know I am not slamming Florida in general. It's just things are not going that well, so I sometimes sound like I'm being a jerk or neg. Some is frustration, some is depression, some is just confusion and unhappiness. But my family is strong, and things will work out somehow.

Your complaints about where you are living are valid. Florida is not for everyone, and the state has its share of extreme negatives especially regarding the economy. For me, Florida is wonderful and I felt as you do about Philadelphia. You have to go where you can be happy, secure, and at peace. Good luck
