I was searching through some old posts on this Forum. Someone was talking about relocating and 55 and over communities. A poster suggested checking out the Hernando (Florida) forum....How do I find that? Help!!! LOL

thank-you.....I thought if I heard input from people that actually know about living in Spring Hill, it would help in our decision making.

Just note that the URL above is for the city of hernando and not the county of hernando. Hernando county is between pasco to the south and citrus to the north. The city called hernando is located within citrus county....

Smile Moving to the city of Hernando.....

We are moving shortly to the small town of Hernando, right next to Inverness.

Does anyone here live there? We just bought a house right by a large lake and it seems very peaceful. Is there work around there or will it be difficult finding a job. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Here is the link for the Hernando County page.

Hernando County, Florida detailed profile - houses, real estate, agriculture, wages, work, ancestries, and more

There are some nice 55+ communities in Hernando. You have Timber Pines which has 3 golf courses and nice club house and lots more to do. It is a very active community.

You also have Heritage Pines which is on the Pasco Hernando border. Once again a very nice glof course community with plenty going on.

Just let me know if you need any other info.

Seems that that information is outdated......from 2004/2005, when the county was thriving......fast forward 2007, 4,190 homes for sale, and how many people out of work? These are hard times for everyone in FL. and statistics from 2005 aren't factual for people thinking of moving here.

I gave him the link to the Hernando County page on city-data.com
Being we are on city-data.com I thought showing him where it is on this site would be the right thing to do.
Please feel free to give us updated numbers.

Now if you would bother reading his post, he is looking for a 55+ community. My assumption is that he is not too worried about employment.

As far as there being 4190 homes on the market, that would help a buyer by giving more choices and also giving the buyer bargaining power.

Anything else?

Default 55+ do work and then some

I happen to know many 55 and over in gated communities that work, I am also aware that many of those behind Timber Pines walls also work for a living . So employment facts are indeed important to those over 55 who might want to stay busy.
