If you don't like sweating, heat, humidity, bugs, rodents, reptiles, rain... Don't move here

Too many people come here and complain about the elements. It's unnecessary and very annoying. Don't move here if all you're going to do is complain.

Also, don't bring your crappy attitude with you.

It's a beautiful area but I could never live there. We would go to Ulster County all the time but it's impossible to make a decent living there. We lived in Westchester County, NY so things were even more expensive. I was always baffled by high utility costs in NY. I compared them to those in Colorado and people there pay peanuts.

A lot of stuff was crazy about upstate N.Y.but imo, the property taxes took the cake, literally the highest % of house value per year I've ever seen. Plus you have crazy stuff like car property tax in CT etc
Yea, no place is perfect. I'm all for property taxes but ones tax bill was 4k twelve years ago and now it's 7k. It does make a difference. The properties in NY, in general, don't seem to be appreciating a lot if at all. Towns/cities/villages are trying to artificially increase/maintain assessments to they can tax more.

Not really crappy. A lot of people move down here and then complain about how it's not like XYZ place, it's too hot, too many bugs etc.

I'm born and raised in Florida, lived here most of my life, and I complain about the heat a lot. The heat is tough at times. I usually do my complaining around October and November though because it is still hot those months and I am truly sick of it.

People complain up north too. You think Michigan people don't complain in the winter?

Some people won't be happy anywhere. I've always thought of major moves as adventures. I can't understand why someone would move across states to a whole new region and expect it--or even want it--to be like where they came from. But I see it all the time. It's best to keep an open mind and open heart. Not hard to do.

Sure, but it should go without saying. Of course Florida sucks in July, the way Michigan sucks in January. The question is the level of suck you are willing to tolerate.

I'll sweat all summer before I suffer a single day of single digit windchill, personally.

It just amazes me when people complain that FL isn't like xyz when it shouldn't be expected to be like xyz.

Some people want higher taxes and more welfare like back home. Nope, that's not fl

Heck even I'm planning on moving to Florida. Jobs in IT, low real estate costs, weather, and low taxes are the reasons.
