I'm confused! Is op asking if she can afford a move to fl? You can easily spend oover $350, 000 on a house and property taxes possibly flood insurance etc adds up. If your combined monthly income is $2000. I don't see how you can make ends meet in florida.

There is plenty of very inexpensive areas in Florida.

It so much depends on how one lives. i have around $15,000 on SS and $20,000 from annuities. They are variable and have been drawing several years; both are over the initial investment. They will last my lifetime.

I do not travel , unless you consider driving down to my condo on Clearwater traveling? My 2012 car has less than 15,000 miles on it. I do not pay any fees on the condo because I paid for it, my kids use it and they pay that monthly bill. i own my own home. Never eat out and never need to buy clothes, as I was a clothes hound up to the time I retired.

My point, I can live fine on this, and usually end up accumulating money, which I invest. My biggest yearly bills are my home insurance and my state taxes. One reason i rather have a house in Florida.

Some one like me could live well on $25,000 a year while some other homebody might need ten grand more.

I have lots of investments, yet most likely will never spend any of it.
