Can a senior couple find a nice hotel room in September or October in St. Augustine without a reservation? Will the hotels be all booked up at that time or will it be fairly easy to find a hotel that looks nice and book a room without prior notice?

I am based in Spain and have really enjoyed travelling around the US and in particular Florida for the winter weather, we had 2 driving trips around Florida last year one in June and another late November and will be back 3 times over the coming winter from our experience finding a room shouldn't be a problem at all if you are ok with using hotel booking websites, we generally move everyday to a different town and if we like it at around 5pm we would use our phones to find a hotel in the area we wanted to stay, never did we have a problem, choice generally got a little limited on a Saturday night and this was always the most expensive night of the week but we always found a bed in some very nice hotels.
